Re-thinking #7

So I was thinking about my last post and #7 was about when I got saved. I didn't even realize what I was saying until just now.. You see when I was age 5 I did ask Christ to forgive my sins and come into my life so that's when I was saved.. BUT I didn't live my life for Christ until my sophomore year of high school. Christ saved me before I started living my life for Him but I guess I didn't know what it meant to live for Him to later in life.. I had to clarify because it's definatly not living for Him that saved me but the work that He alone did and trusting that even at the young age of 5.. Phew.... i feel better now :)

I've been tagged......again :)

I've been tagged
My friend Katie tagged me to write 7 random things about myself...so here it is...

1) I have to wear contacts or glasses at all times in order to see anything because I"m legally blind.. I've had glasses since I was in first grade. I remember when I was in third grade my eye doctor said I might go blind some day and so naturally I went home, closed my eyes and walked around the house trying to figure out what that would be like.. not much fun.

2) I'm not a very good cook but baking is a whole other story.. Cookies, cakes, pies, those sort of things usually turn out really great when I make them which I am really grateful for.

3) I'm the youngest out of my 4 siblings but currently have the most kids

4) I hate spiders.. especially the dark brown or black ones. When Victor and I first got married I would run from the spiders and make him kill them but now that I have kids I"m braver and kill them myself.. but I still don't like to be near them.

5) For some reason my most embarrassing moments always involve pee.. I'm not talking just when I was little either... In 8th grade I had to go to the bathroom so bad but the teacher said it was almost lunch time and asked if I could hold it.. I said yes and then a minute later my friend told me the funniest joke and before I knew it there was a puddle under me... Also when Victor and I were engaged he had me on his shoulders and he was making me laugh and well... it's similar to my last story...

I think I've always had a weak bladder.. and that was before having the 3 kids.. sheesh.

6) I love being a wife and a mommy.. sometimes older women will look at me having 3 young kids and tell me with a pity in their voice " don't worry this time will pass soon" BUT what they don't realize is that i don't want it to pass soon (although i know it will).. I absolutely LOVE, LOVe being a Mom (and Wife) and I don't pity myself but consider myself to be very blessed.

7) I saved the best for last. I grew up in a home that taught me about Christ and things of God, said a prayer when I was 5 for Jesus Christ to come into my life but I don't consider myself to actually have been saved until my sophomore year of highschool. I say that because I did not live my life for Christ prior to that.. I didn't do crazy things like drugs but my life also was no different from those around me. I remember going on a Mexico trip my sophomore year of high school and seeing peers who were truly living their life for Christ.. Their lives seemed to have something that mine didn't....Also, I saw how this was impacting the people we were ministering to... My youth pastor at the time (Jeff Biddle) challenged us by asking us why we could witness there in Mexico and not back at home.. I immediatly knew the answer for me was because people at home saw my lifestyle. From then on I had a desire to truly make Jesus the Lord of my life and live for Him. I had a heart change which in turn changed my life around.. I do believe that is the time when the Holy Spirit entered into my life and took control. Thank you Lord for making the change!

I tag back anyone who reads my blog who hasn't been tagged yet :)

3 months left.....

How would you live if you knew you only had a few months to live? Would your life look different than it does now? I know mine would.

A few nights ago on a podcast I heard an 18 year old high school student from Corner Stone Simi Valley give such a powerful exhortation.. He was talking about how he had been battling Leukemia for a while and how the doctors had told him there is nothing else they can do for him and he will die mostly likely in 3 months give or take... He went on to share that it was month 2 since his doctors had told him this and he was aware that he could slip into a coma and go at any time.. But what was interesting was that he said he was not scared for himself.. He was not scared of the pain which he had encountered previous times and would most likely encounter again, he was not scared of death because he knew where he was going... the 3 things he said he was scared for was:

1) For those who don't know where they are going
2) For those who think they know where they are going but really don't
3) For those that are distracted by the things of this world

He said that he is blessed because he knows his timeline and therefore he does not take friends for granite, or family, and most importantly his relationship with Christ.

He said that He is going to be with Jesus Christ because of what Christ did for Him and that it's the rest of us that he feels scared for...

His testimony was so real and powerful.. The part about being distracted hit me right in the gut... I distract myself with so many things (even blogging at times) that I don't give Christ the whole part of me that He deserves..

You could tell that this guy's love for Christ outweighed anything that this world could offer him.. His eyes were fixed on Christ..

The truth is any of us could go at any moment.. I pray I would live differently, not distracted by the things of this world as this brother in Christ does and live every moment for the glory of God. I pray for those that fit in the other 2 categories that they would truly come to humiltiy, repent of their sins, and receive Christ into their lives.
